Australasian Cochrane symposia have been held biennially in a number of different cities since 2000. The meetings provide an opportunity for local Cochrane contributors and supporters to get together and hear more about issues affecting the production of systematic reviews and the mission of Cochrane. Cochrane Australia has also hosted the Cochrane Colloquium, Cochrane's annual scientific and business meeting, on three occasions: 4th Cochrane Colloquium in Adelaide in 1996, 13th Cochrane Colloquium in Melbourne in 2005, and 17th Cochrane Colloquium in Singapore in 2009 (in partnership with our Singapore Branch).
The 2015 Australasian Cochrane Symposium featured an engaging and informative mix of speakers, topics, workshops and plenaries that explored contemporary issues affecting the evidence community in our own region and beyond. Prominent keynote speakers shared their insights into how we can best generate, communicate and use evidence to achieve our shared goals of supporting the translation of research into policy and practice, encouraging informed decision-making and improving health outcomes.
