The Australasian Cochrane Centre co-ordinates activities of the Cochrane Collaboration in Australia and the wider region, principally by providing training and support to authors of Cochrane reviews, working with policy makers, advocating on behalf of the Collaboration regionally, and promoting the use and uptake of The Cochrane Library. The Centre works in partnership with its branches in Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

There are over 2000 authors of Cochrane reviews in countries supported by the Centre, mostly comprising clinicians, researchers and consumers who contribute on a voluntary basis. The Centre conducts regular workshops in how to prepare Cochrane reviews aimed at new authors, plus more intensive programs for those completing their reviews.

The Centre is funded by the Australian Government through the National Health and Medical Research Council. Our work with policy makers aims to ensure that evidence in the form of systematic reviews underpins policy, and that systematic reviews are available in formats that policy makers can use. The National Health and Medical Research Council also funds a national subscription to The Cochrane Library, allowing free online access to the Library throughout Australia. Aligned to the core Cochrane activities, the Centre has an extensive program of research exploring effective ways to inform healthcare decisions through the uptake of evidence. This includes projects investigating the synthesis, interpretation, dissemination and implementation of research evidence for clinical practice and policy.

The Centre is located at 549 St Kilda Road and is part of the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University.
