Within Cochrane, Heath is a Senior Research Officer and Evidence Lead within the Living Evidence for Diabetes demonstration project, the objective of which is to ensure that key diabetes recommendations remain current by incorporating new evidence as it becomes available.
Heath is an experienced systematic reviewer, having previously held positions at the Australian Safety and Efficacy Register of New Interventional Procedures – Surgical (ASERNIP-S) and the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI), where he contributed to the development of a novel mixed-methods approach to systematic reviews. Following his time at JBI, he managed an NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence focused on chronic disease knowledge translation in Aboriginal peoples (CREATE).
In his previous position, Heath contributed to the development of the National Health and Medical Research Councils ‘Guidelines for Guidelines’ project, which provides best practice guidance for guideline developers. He is a member of the Guidelines International Network GINAHTA Steering Committee, focused on strengthening synergy between HTA and guideline developers, and is an active reviewer for the journals BMJ Open, Systematic Reviews and the International Journal of Clinical Practice.
